We drove along a twisting teasing eye pleasing road today... it followed it's distantly related cousin...the creek... beyond the creeks hole-y begining... we traveled among and between the most lushesly adorned elders I have ever laid my eyes apon... the mountains of Hatchers Pass...
We parked the car... doors opened... the air hit my lungs with an instant high... excitment filled my body as I gazed up to where the jagged rocks pierce the turquoise sky... along side the racing clouds above the small airplanes that navagate around them... there... right there is where we aspired to be...
The ground cover is diverse... small shrubs that reach to below my knees... are scattered about... and they tower above a dense jungle of moss, lichen, mushrooms, berries, rich green plants, miniture flowers and tiny orchids...
The terrain quickly became steep and we utilized patches of huge boulders and rubble to climb... trying to aviod the gravity that pulled at our backs...
Many little dugout homes we passed but the tenants never peeked out to greet us... instead they squeeked from a distance to let us know they cared about our visit... the insect world seemed to pay us no mind except for one brief visit from a fuzzy bodied butterfly/moth... she danced a bit and then rested as we marveled at her velvety
cape...
After stopping a minute here and there to catch our breaths and the ever growing view... we made it to the ridge... the back bone of the giant we gratefully massaged with our feet and eyes... there... we were there on the elders... witnessing thier wisdom... in the heavens I did walk today.
